Born in Germany; American with French & German heritage.
I mention this in respect to old traditions of heritage that were once alive among the fabric of shiny homogeneous Americaness; I was brought up among & traverse these opposite worlds, oppositions feel complete.
Studied in the US, France & Italy.
Grew up in various locations, but family base is Saint Louis, Missouri.
Starting since age 8 & thereafter, I still make extended annual visits to the greater Yellowstone National Park ecosystem, which in the past years has also included the Colorado River Plateau
& the Grand Canyon.

Phenology is the study of the mature naturalist - the gate through which nature becomes personal.
To be absorbed in this life is to merge with larger patterns. Here ecology is not studied, but felt so that truths become known in the same way a child learns hot from cold - truths that are immune from doubt and argument and, most important, can never be taken away.
